Internet Control Design. Remote control and monitoring over the Internet

Description of the products

Hardware: Control Circuit, WebNet og Web Cam.

Img. 1
The control circuit with 5V. power supply is made to be connected to the output pins of the PIC on the embedded web-server kit (the parallel ports of the PIC) and at the same time to the 6 different electronic devices desired to be controlled.
The control circuit is made up of various electronic components, mounted on a printed circuit board with help of an electronic diagram which I made and printed on a copper board.
A potential difference of 3V can command a relay to control a electronic device connected to it.

  • The image 1 shows the control circuit with it's own six independent output to the electronic device which is connected to the power supply, and the WebNet module.

The Web Net module is a configurable embedded Web-Script server kit that consists of a I/O "Sub Credit Card" called DIMM (Dual In-line Memory Module) where the graphic interface is stored with a max. of 2MB data.
The DIMM card is developed in the SO (Small Outline) 144 pin so its easy to insert in the Web RJS-PIC that acts like a motherboard.
On the Web RJS-PIC is placed the PIC microcontroller 18F876 that is programmed to be controlled by the graphical interface to determines whether to open or close the current on the respective outgoing 6 pins.
On every 6 pin can be genereted a potential difference of 3V. that is used to activate the control circuit.

  • The image 2 shows the DIMM.

  • The image 3 shows the DIMM inserted on the Web RJS-PIC.

  • The image 4 shows the microcontroller PIC 18F876 placed on the Web RJS-PIC.

The Web Cam is connected directly to the router and has it's own IP number.
In the project, Internet Control Design, only a web cam is used, but it is possible to use as many Web cams as desired.
The Web Cams is independent of the Webnet module, and can be used for surveillance, or monitoring of many other things.

  • The image 5 shows only one type of Web Cam available on the commercial market with it's own IP number but there are others available. You don't have to purchase one that looks exactly like the one in the photo, the most importants is that it must answer to the same technical features and should get a discrete optics that will answer to the own needs.
  • Be fre to visit the location of the Web Cam.

    Software: the graphical interface

The graphical interface is built in HTML language with the help of Java-applets that allow the access to the control and monitoring of the above mentioned and stored in the DIMM card.

The Remote Control Unit is a part of the graphical interface, made to control the desired electronic devices and by contacting this through any browser a thread is opened between the remote user and the electronic devices in the house for ex. garage lights, house alarm, central heating, electronic locks.
Rx means Receive and Tx means Transmit.
When the thread is starting to open, the Rx and Tx blink and this indicates that there will be a connection in 50msec.
And when the connection is made, the browser will receives the OK from the Web net module and Rx blinks green once, then when you click in the check box, the Tx will blink red and the device will turned on.
The Remote Control Unit is made up of 6 check boxes that function like buttons, controlled by a JAVA script, and by clicking on them, occur a potential difference of 3 V. on each of the 6 pins on the PIC that actived the Control Circuit, as mentioned earlier in the first two paragraph.

  • The image 6 shows a prototype of a RCU.

  • This electronic devices writed is just fictional and you can control whatever devices you like. The last two buttons are reserved for future use, that means perhaps to rotate the Web Cam from right to left or viceversa.

The ICD Monitor is the second part of the graphical Interface.
Here you can monitor, through video streaming signal from the Web Cam, the devices in your home; such as switching them on or off remotely

  • In the image 7 you don't actually see the devices working but you see a fictitious substitute, so you can test it and get an idea of how project works in reality.
This light is refered to a red led light which simulated the potential difference of 3V. by interact when you check or uncheck the boxes.

  • By clicking here you can come directly into a DEMO window that represent a type of graphical interface.
